Relative-Film Screening
The Guild Cinema presents Relative, a comedy/drama about three days in the life of a modern American family this Thursday, April 27.
Produced by Newcity/Chicago Film Project, this Chicago-made star-studded dramedy stars Wendy Robie and legend Francis Guinan as the parents of a family at a crossroads. How will the Frank family handle separations, new romances, and empty-nesting following the college graduation of Benji, the youngest member of their clan? Time, love, family reunions and online proclivities test all of the characters in this ensemble film.
City Nature Challenge Albuquerque 2023
Let’s take a hike! Join the City Nature Challenge (CNC) in finding and documenting plants and wildlife April 28-May 1. The Open Space Division is offering a special hike each day of CNC at a different Major Public Open Space public lands property.
Visit the Petroglyph National Monument: Piedras Marcadas Canyon, Elena Gallegos Open Space, Tingley Beach Bosque Open Space, and Tijeras BioZone Education Center Open Space. Learn about local trails in your neighborhood, and enjoy a hike with other nature enthusiasts!
Guided Tour: Candelaria Nature Preserve Open Space
Let’s explore New Mexico’s wildlife! Join experts on Friday, April 28 and explore the Candelaria Nature Preserve where wildlife abounds and get a glimpse of the major restoration effort that is underway to convert farm fields to a mosaic of wildlife habitat. Experience all that our public lands have to offer from 10am to 12pm.
Heritage Spinning and Weaving
Go back in time and learn about the art of heritage spinning and weaving at Casa San Ysidro April 29 from 1:30 to 3:00pm. Take a hands-on class spinning on a spinning wheel while hearing about the origins and histories of fiber in Spanish Colonial New Mexico along El Camino Real. This class features yarn-making and fiber-made utilitarian items. While you’re there, schedule a tour of the Gutiérrez/Minge House. The Minge Collection at Casa San Ysidro includes architectural elements, furniture, religious art, household tools and hardware, jewelry, Hispanic and Pueblo weavings and pottery, a transportation collection, and historic photographs.
