Downtown Neighborhood Guide

When the sun goes down, Albuquerque’s Downtown comes to life!

Around every corner, you’ll find live music, theaters, dancing, art, restaurants, bars and breweries.

Relish in the rich history of Route 66 where there’s always something happening that you don’t want to miss here in Downtown Albuquerque! While Old Town holds the distinction of being the original town site, Downtown emerged as a pivotal center around the railroads, establishing itself as a vital nexus for transportation and commerce.

In the 1930s, a reconfiguration of Route 66 led to its path running east-west through Nob Hill, Downtown, and Old Town. Over time, the interconnectedness of these three core neighborhoods has remained integral for both residents and visitors. Trains still bring people downtown at the Alvarado Transportation Center, and the Albuquerque International Sunport is nearby, making it easy to get to this busy area in less than 10 minutes.

Downtown has a special mix of old-time charm and modern conveniences that you won’t find anywhere else. To really understand what makes it unique, come and experience it for yourself!
